Our behaviour approach
At Easton CE Primary, we have the highest expectations of the behaviour of all members of our community. We believe that every child can behave exceptionally well and are committed to supporting them to achieve this. Our aim is not simply to manage behaviour, but to teach and develop the skills children need to become confident, responsible and respectful members of our school community and beyond.
We believe that every child has the right to learn in a calm, safe and nurturing environment where they feel valued, respected and able to flourish. Our approach to behaviour is rooted in positive relationships, high expectations and a commitment to helping every child succeed academically, socially and emotionally.
We recognise that behaviour is a form of communication and that every child is unique. Through kindness, consistency and understanding, we work to help pupils develop the skills they need to regulate their emotions, make positive choices and build strong relationships with others.
Our Calm School Code
Our behaviour curriculum is built around five simple expectations that are taught, modelled and celebrated throughout school:
- Act kindly and show respect
- Speak kindly
- Work hard
- Move calmly
- Listen carefully
These expectations help children feel safe and successful while creating a positive learning environment for everyone.
Positive Recognition
We believe that children thrive when their positive choices are noticed and celebrated. Staff use specific praise and recognition to reinforce our values and expectations.
Our recognition systems include:
Specific verbal praise linked to the Calm School Code and school values.
Class Dojo points and class rewards.
Class Champion trophies.
Star Certificates presented in celebration assemblies.
Attendance awards.
House points.
Positive communication with parents and carers through Class Dojo, phone calls and face-to-face conversations.
Celebration of individual achievements, effort and positive contributions in assemblies.
Restorative Approach
When difficulties arise, our focus is on helping children learn from their experiences and repair relationships. We use restorative conversations to support pupils in reflecting on their choices, understanding their impact on others and finding ways to put things right. This approach helps children develop responsibility, empathy and resilience.
Supporting Individual Needs
We understand that some children may need additional support with their social, emotional or mental health needs. Our Inclusion Team works closely with pupils, families and external agencies to provide tailored support and ensure that every child has the opportunity to participate fully in school life.
The team works alongside teachers to help children overcome barriers to learning, develop social and emotional skills, and access support when needed. This may include individual or small group interventions, emotional wellbeing support, assistance during times of change or challenge, and liaison with families and external agencies.
Where a child is experiencing difficulties with behaviour, wellbeing or relationships, our pastoral team may work closely with them, their family and school staff to understand their needs and put appropriate support in place. Our aim is always to provide early help, strengthen relationships and ensure every child feels safe, valued and able to flourish.

Strong partnerships between home and school are essential. We work closely with parents and carers to support children's wellbeing, behaviour and learning, ensuring that together we provide the guidance, encouragement and consistency that helps every child thrive. In our behaviour policy, we outline our expectations for how we can work together to deveop a school community where everyone can flourish.

Celebrate their child’s achievements, efforts and positive choices
Treat all members of the school community with respect and kindness
Communicate with staff calmly and respectfully, even when there are concerns
Work collaboratively with the school to support their child’s wellbeing, learning and behaviour which may include attending meetings and engaging with additional support
Ensure their child is ready for school, arriving on time and ready to learn
Share information with the school that may affect their child’s wellbeing, behaviour or learning
